An insight into the cooperation with the Polish aviation and defence industry at MSPO

06 september 2021
The 29th MSPO in Kielce welcomes Raytheon Technologies, an aerospace and defence company formed as a result of the merger of United Technologies and Raytheon. Raytheon's footmark in Poland will be discussed, including partnership cooperation with the Polish industry, defence and aviation sector. A wide range of solutions for Poland's security and activities designed to benefit the local community, including support for education in exact sciences and technological competencies are also presented

The most important topics Raytheon Technologies presents at MSPO include:

Cooperation with the Polish industry in the defence and aviation sector

Raytheon Technologies employs 8,000 people in Poland in 3 business divisions - Collins Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney, Raytheon Missiles & Defense. For many years, the company has been an active business player in Poland, in the aviation and industries related to national defence. Collins Aerospace specialises in the design, production and services for military and civil aviation.  Pratt & Whitney mainly produces components and engines for commercial and military aircraft.  Raytheon Missiles & Defense (RMD) is the development and production expert in military equipment and solutions.  The nine Polish companies have signed contracts with RM&D for the production of the components for the Patriot system, phase 1 of the Wisła programme.  These companies are part of the global RM&D supply chain and are thus offered the opportunity to sell their solutions on foreign markets. The RM&D industrial partners' group includes: Military Communication Works No. 1 (WZŁ-1), Demarko, Research and Development Centre, Maritime Technology Centre, Military Electronic WorksSA (WZE), Tarnów Mechanical Works (ZMT), Stalowa Wola Steelworks SA (HSW), PEX-POOL PLUS Aggregates, TELDAT and PIT-RADWAR.

Moreover, in August this year, contracts with PGZ were signed. The contract objective is to fulfil the RMD obligations under the offset of the 1st phase of the Wisła program. As the result, PGZ and the companies associated with the PGZ-Wisła consortium obtain knowledge, technical assistance and training. Therefore the companies will increase their technological, production and project management competencies in order to make it possible to continue the Polish Armed Forces' modernisation.

Raytheon Technologies contributes towards Polish economic development. The F-135 engine components are manufactured in Poland and used in F-35 aircraft all over the world. The Patriot system components such as IFF antennas for  Friend or Foe identification and routers are already exported to other countries which use this solution.

The first Patriot system launcher manufactured in Poland will be presented at MSPO Kielce,  the launcher is a part of the PGZ exhibition.

The offer designed to develop cutting edge solutions for Poland's defence capabilities

Raytheon Technologies is the Ministry of National Defence's trusted partner and has cooperated with the Polish Armed Forces, providing the most modern solutions which will guarantee Poland's security, sovereignty and will protect citizens and the state's infrastructure against aggression. For the local community

Raytheon Technologies' activities go beyond business and include a range of community service programs and initiatives.  The company promotes exact sciences education in order to inspire future engineers generations and cooperates with the Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw to inspire and motivate next generations of scientists and engineers. The Higher Education Institutions cooperation scheme includes  AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków and Wrocław University of Science and Technology (CA).  The Aviation Valley Association is also its strategic partner; a number of educational events is a part of partnership cooperation (P&IN).
