04 september 2012
The strategy unveiled at the Defence Industry Exhibition in Kielce

The President of BUMAR Group Krzysztof Krystowski

- Our intention is to be much more than just a collection of production companies; we shall be a coherent corporation – announced Krzysztof Krystowski; the Bumar Group President on the second day of the International Defence Industry Exhibition held in Targi Kielce – And there will be no export for PR purposes only either. We wish to be a national concern; a Polish Army family doctor.

The new Bumar Group strategy encompasses the years 2013 – 2018. The five-year comprehensive recovery plan has been constructed around the ABC slogan – A for the Army (Bumar’s strategic Client); B for Bumar, C for Polish word People; the latter refers to the people the company is composed of. This strategy has been designed to make Bumar a competitive and modern company. Recently the Ministry of National Defence have made almost 50% of its purchases from Bumar; the annual Bumar Group turnover reaches 3 billion PLN. However the company’s income in recent years has been negative.

- The loss which has been generated has not been generated in the production unit; it is the restructuring cost – explains Mr Krystowski – The loss has been impacted by over estimation of the Bumer Łabędy’s share price which in turn we had to go down with. It is also the result of accountancy inaccuracies in the period of 2008 – 2010. The correction has indicated the 5000 million loss.

According to its new strategy Bumar will mainly focus on Polish market and thus declares its support for the government’s strategy. Bumar intends to become a long-term partner for the Ministry of National Defence as well as to establish alliance with the Military Renovation Works. – We want to integrate – says President Krystowski – Service agreements will be introduced in addition to operational leasing and many more resolutions. Efficiency and profitability improvement are our key objectives.

In the course of strategy presentation it was also announced that Bumar will introduce the SPIKE system for greater group integration, focus on new products, innovativeness and dedication to its clients, namely the armed forces.

The Bumar Group showcase at the International Defence Industry Exhibition accounts for over 4 thousand square metres. The total Targi Kielce’s MSPO exhibition space exceeds 27 thousand square metres; it is used by over 400 companies from 29 countries. Europe’s third largest defence show held in Kielce, ranked just after Paris and London continues until Thursday; 6th September.
