The meeting of the Ministry of National Defence and Ministry of Treasury undersecretaries of state with the representatives of defence industry sector

On the second day of the International Defence Industry Exhibition held in Targi Kielce, the Ministry of Treasury Undersecretary of State Mikołaj Budzanowski, Ministry of National Defence Undersecretary of State Marcin Idzik participated in the traditional meeting with the managements of Polish defence industry sector companies. The meeting was attended by over a hundred participants. The gathering was inaugurated by Targi Kielce President of Board Andrzej Mochoń, who mad the reference to the origins of the meetings with the deputy ministers of National Defence, Economy and Treasury. In his speech Minister Idzik highlighted the fact that the ministry will do all possible attempts to carry out the framework contracts observing the European Union directive which came into force on 21 August to make it possible.

- We want to arrange the management system of contacts with the Armed Forces so that the industry sector has one contacting party and to create one body within the Ministry of National Defence responsible for contrasting – said Minister Idzik. – I also think that this will allow you for better planning of purchases and contracts with the suppliers as well as spare parts deliveries. We want to do away with the gripes which cause confusion in relations with our ministry. We want to have the best possible cooperation between the government and the industry sector. This purpose is served by, among many other initiatives, by the creation of the Industrial – Defence Council, which was establish on 26th June by the previous minister Bogdan Klich. The council is supposed to meet every other month. The in invitation to participate in the council will also be sent to, apart from the industry sector representatives, the delegates of the National Treasury Department as well as the Ministry of Economy.

The meeting was not limited just to the presentation delivered by the government representatives. The discussion moderated by Targi Kielce President of Board Andrzej Mochoń related to numerous issues concerning the future of the defence industry; and among them the introduction of changes t the legal regulations which specify the relations between the army and the industry, conclusion of many-year contracts, the span and finances for research and development works in the sector of defence. Edward E. Nowak; the president of the Bumar Group spoke on behalf of the defence industry sector. He stressed the significance of cooperation and the necessity to guard against the possible threat of corruption; he also appealed for a more modern model of cooperation. He also observed that this more modern cooperation may find its initiation in the newly created Industrial – Defence Council.
