Cuban–jazz and a concert dedicated to Zduniak
A concert organized to commemorate Michał Zduniak, featuring stars such as Kinior and Stanisław Soyka, in addition to Krzysia Górniak, Dorota Miśkiewicz, Marcin Wasilewski Trio and, last but not least, the Cuban artist Omar Sosa are the attractions of this year's Targi Kielce Jazz Festival Memorial to Miles (27-28 September).
This will already be the third time that in late September jazz music stars have paid a visit to Kielce to "send musical letters" to Miles Davis.
"For the first time we have increased the duration of the festival to three days," says President of the Management Board of Targi Kielce, Andrzej Mochoń. "One day is dedicated to Michał Zduniak, with Poland's most recognized jazz stars playing for him, in addition to other musicians who once co-operated with the late artist.”
The star of the festival is a Grammy Awards nominee, the main attraction of the most important festivals almost all over the world, Omar Sosa from Cuba. "His music can hardly be classified into a homogenous style," says director of the Kielce Culture Centre, co-organizer of the festival, Magdalena Kusztal. "Having received many awards for his albums, he is regarded as one of the best composers of contemporary jazz, world-music, and afro-Cuban jazz.”
“Pod Papugami” (“Under the Parrots”), "Czy mnie jeszcze pamiętasz?” (Do you still remember me?) are some of the hits produced on the stage of the Culture Centre in the form of jazz music during the Targi Kielce Jazz Festival. The new sound of the songs which were once performed by Czesław Niemen will be produced by: Artur Dutkiewicz, Dariusz Oleszkiewicz and Sebastian Frankiewicz, who make up a band called Artur Dutkiewicz Trio.
