Deputy Prime Minister Gliński: NGOs are the salt of democracy

The lecture on "Civic organisations in times of crisis - challenges for public policies" was delivered by the Deputy Prime Minister Professor Piotr Gliński, Chairman of the Committee for Public Benefit. This was the highlight of the second day of the NGO-EXPO National Fair of Non-Governmental Organisations.

- Without you, we would have been poorer, and we would not have been able to cope with social challenges. You spur people to act, and you build a community - said Deputy Prime Minister Professor Gliński. The NGO-EXPO National Fair of Non-Governmental Organisations is organised by the Stefan Artwiński National Freedom Institute - Centre for Civil Society Development.

Deputy Prime Minister Professor Piotr Gliński pointed out to the importance of the non-governmental organisations' work; this has gained extra significance during the crisis. NGOs have provided extensive help during the pandemic when many residents remained at home. The "Senior Support Corps" program is one of the examples. After the outbreak of the war in the East, NGO's have supported refugees in finding their bearing in our country. NGO's have organised accommodation and provided for basic necessities. Now they play an essential role in integrating people from Ukraine.
