Improper disposal of electronic waste may result in high fines! The fine may be up to PLN 5,000.
E-waste is one of the greatest threats to the environment as one of the most dangerous waste because they contain numerous substances harmful to health and the environment. Therefore, fines for improper management of this type of waste may amount to up to PLN 5,000. Research by GfK Polonia in 2019 showed that 1 in 5 Poles disposed of misused electronic equipment at least once, throwing it into the trash bin with other waste.
E-waste is a broad category that includes:
- mobile phones,
- radio and television equipment,
- domestic appliances
- light bulbs, fluorescent lamps,
- batteries,
- LEDs,
- power banks.
The disposal of this waste is regulated by the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act of 2015, which determines the amount of fines imposed by the city guard or police for incorrect disposal of electronic waste.
Special collection points for electronic waste (marked PSZOK) are responsible for e-waste disposal. It is worth checking the nearest PSZOK location. Larger size electronic waste, such as refrigerators or washing machines, can be collected free of charge directly from home, especially in larger cities. When purchasing new equipment, we can return the old equipment without additional fees; POS are obliged to accept it both for home delivery and in store.
Appropriate electronic waste disposal is not only a matter of environmental protection, but also of avoiding high financial penalties. Use designated collection points and take advantage of free collection of large electronic waste.
The Ekotech offers an excellent opportunity to talk about challenges and solutions related to e-waste. The event held from 8 to 10 April 2025 at Targi Kielce, will bring together experts and professionals from the waste management industry. Participants will have the opportunity to exchange knowledge, experiences and modern technologies that can help in the safe and effective disposal of electronic waste. Numerous discussion panels, presentations and workshops devoted to waste management are a part of the Ekotech agenda. With the growing problem of e-waste, events such as Ekotech are crucial to promoting responsible practices and raising awareness about its proper disposal.
