Kielce – the capital of books

17 march 2011
The EDUKACJA fair declared open

The EDUKACJA fair was formally opened by Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship Marshal Adam Jarubas

- I can proudly say that owing to this three-day exhibition Kielce gains itself the name of the capital city of books. What makes this fair the biggest exhibition in Poland in the sector of education is the fact that all the most important publishing houses are present here – said during the gala opening of the 16th Education Fair EDUKACJA Piotr Dobrołęcki, the deputy president of Polish Book Chamber and the chairman of the programme council of EDUKACJA.

The special guest of this year’s edition of the fair and of the Headmasters’ Forum is the education representative of the United Kingdom government Colin Rose. During the opening ceremony Mr Rose said that the role of education and of the teacher has been changing; the role of the teacher will be to equip the pupils with the ability of efficient knowledge acquisition.

The fair is held until Friday. Over 210 companies from all over Poland will present their offer. The exhibition is accompanied by no fewer than 80 events (conferences, workshops and all kinds of presentations). The EDUKACJA fair is attended by about 11 thousand visitors interested in its offer.

Conferences, training sessions and meetings with authors
The exhibition, similar to its previous editions, is accompanied by the diversity of meetings with the authors, conferences and seminars of broadly defined education. Newly published books will also be promoted here.

In response to the vital problems of Polish education the three-day National Head Teachers' Forum is organised during the EDUKACJA fair. The motto of this year’s conference is “From the chalk blackboard towards the interactive board i.e. Polish school between traditions and modernity”. 500 forum participants represent the managerial staff of Polish schools and education as well as the Superintendents’ Forum. All educational supervisors are present this year in Kielce.

The year’s fair has been for the first time accompanied by the Forum of Kindergarten and Early School Education held under the banner of “Early education tailor made for each individual child”. Kindergarten teachers and head teachers, early school education teachers as well as the school day care room teachers, school supervisors and methodology advisers participate in the event.
