Is life in the Lubelskie Region delicious enough to make it a part of the Region’s promotional slogan? It is indeed; Lubelskie is Poland’s eastern borderland region identified by its specific climate. Not only do the large cities differ from other Poland’s metropolises, but also its picturesque villages have their own pace of life. Yet there is one more cogent reason; local residents as well as guests who pay a visit to this paradise-like beauty spot can delight in tranquillity and fresh air, but first and foremost savour Lublin’s delightful regional cuisine.

A visit to the Lublin Region will take you to the world of culinary delicacies your grandma used to make and help you recollect the taste of simple dishes all our palates crave for. The regional menu which in the official jargon is referred to as the list of traditional products, already comprises of over a hundred delicacies; and there are such germs as Goraj’s onion soup, steamed lentil –dough cakes or carp ham from Pustelnia. And you also like fruit? Lubelskie will seduce you with the Kraśnik dried pears and a mysterious marinated grey pears. When it comes to desserts, you cannot possibly resist the Lubartów poppy-seed cake or the Eremite’s Vitamins (black elderberry syrup) or Saint Eugene’s Nectar.

But your palate is not enough to relish Lubelskie. The local landscape’s outstanding beauty and enormous diversity will stir up your senses. And this is a perfect place for rural tourism. The Lublin Region is located between the two large rivers – the Vistula and the Bug; owing to this fact the region’s geological formation presents multifarious features. It is thus a marvellous place for those who are into geology and want to trace and observe the remnants of the past. This is one of the few places in Europe where you can visit underground passages of Chełm carved in the chalk rock as well as the world-famous loess ravines in addition over a hundred Roztocze’s stands with fossilised trees and sea animals or fabulous geological formations (waterfalls, caves or river rapids). Not before long all these will be a part of a newly created “Stone Forests in Roztocze”.

The natural attractions become a inherent part of a tempting agro-tourism offer. Most attractive farm holiday offers and the best host are ranked on annual basis; they welcome their guests whole-heartedly, offer them regional treats and provide supreme entertainment. And the citizens of Lublin a renowned for their fantastic creativity. You will be amazed with a rural Spa in the Country Camomile in Hołownia or with a Pumpkin Village in Zaliszcz. The locals from Wojciechów welcome you to take a stroll along the Iron and Smith Traditions Path of the Wojciechowska Land. The residents of Kijany invite you to take part in the open-air game “Laskaris i Teofania”; the plot is based on local history and legends. The game was the first prize winner of the last year’s edition of the Voivodeship’s best rural tourism product contest.

Do you enjoy a vintage climate? The land of Lublin features a whole array of attractions rooted in the region’s multi-cultural and multi-religious past. The special highlight is the golden age of the Jagiellonians, the era of significant historic events such as the two international unions - 1413 the Horodło Union and in 1569 the Lublin Union. You will encounter real history when taking part in cyclical events, e.g. the Jagiellonian Market, the Cross-boarder Days of Good Neighbourly Relations or the Three Cultures Festival.

The charm of Lubelskie’s unique nature and cultural heritage has been a strong incentive. And even active tourists find it a real challenge.
