MSPO official commencement
“A strong Poland - this is one of the key points of the country's sustainable development plan. This includes its position in the world and its efficient army. The International Defence Industry Exhibition perfectly goes in line with the government's action plan. Not only does it promote Polish companies, but also enhances our country's image as a strong brand. I am convinced that this year's expo is also an example of all the public health safety observance, discipline, responsibility and care for other people. " - this is how Andrzej Mochoń, the Targi Kielce president of boar described the organisation of MSPO 2020. MSPO is held in a complicated situation caused by the Sars Cov-2 global pandemic.
The President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, was unable to join the Kielce event. Dariusz Gwizdała, Deputy Head of the National Security Bureau, read the President’s address. The guests were presented the Head of State’s words of gratitude - "My thank to the organisers who have been co-creating this important event for years and have thus promoted the Polish economy and Polish image globally."
“Ever since its first edition, the expo has fulfilled the two functions. One of them is the presentation of specific products and technical solutions; however, the aspect of views exchange and discussions is equally important. These result in consortia formation - these jointly undertake research and development works. Here we discuss the shape of the arms industry, the needs of the armed forces, what the battlefield of the future may look like. In the era of coronavirus, this aspect plays a major role. Despite sanitary restrictions, MSPO has not compromised on its knowledge-dissemination aspect"- the pandemic situation was mentioned in Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki’s letter read out by the Secretary of State, Deputy Head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, Mr Paweł Szrot.
“Can I say what a real privilege is speaking today. In the UK, we are always impressed by the resilience and the determination of the Polish people. Examples of that resilience and determination occur again and again in the long history of the nation. It is, therefore, no surprise, even with all the challenges that the world is currently facing, Poland has laid on a first-rate trade show today. We may be lower on numbers we would normally expect, but looking around the halls earlier today, and hearing through the mikes – with all of you in the seats. We may be lower on numbers, and we are certainly high on quality.’ - this is how Jeremy Quin, the United Kingdom Minister for Defence Procurement, the head of the British delegation, opened his speech. UK hosts this year's MSPO Lead Nation Exhibition.
The Mayor of Kielce, Bogdan Wenta in his speech focused on the role of Targi Kielce for the region: "Your presence at the 28th International Defence Industry Exhibition is especially important to me and all Kielce inhabitants. This event would not have happened, but for your commitment and determination. Your presence proves that even the greatest adversities and a global pandemic have not weakened the will to take actions aimed at improving the global world ”.
The International Defence Industry Exhibition MSPO continues until 10 September, Thursday.
