07 january 2025
In the face of challenges, the plastics industry keeps developing dynamically globally, and the market value continues to grow. Companies have increased investments in innovative technologies and sustainable development. Kielce's May Plastpol is the arena for presenting global innovative solutions, including machines working live. As the event becomes even more international, it plays a significant role in creating new businesses

According to the "Plastics Market Size, Share, and Trends 2024 to 2033. Global Industry Analysis, Size, Share, Growth, Trends, Regional Outlook, and Forecast 2024-2033" report prepared by Precedence Research the global plastics market size is estimated at USD 624.84 billion in 2023 and is projected to reach approximately USD 943.76 billion by 2033, growing at a CAGR of 4.21% from 2024 to 2033.

The Plastics Europe Polska Foundation report "PLASTICS – FACTS 2024 IN A NUTSHELL" estimates that global production of plastics in 2023 will increase to 413.8 million tonnes, of which 374.2 million are plastics from non-renewable raw materials, constituting over 90% of the total. The remaining 36.2 million tonnes were post-consumer plastic recyclates (from mechanical recycling) and a further 3.4 million tonnes were bio-based plastics (3.0 million), chemically recycled plastics (0.3 million) and CCU technologies (0.1 million).

The "Annual Report on Plastics - 2024 Facts" of the Plastics Europe Polska Foundation reads that European plastics production in this period dropped from 58.9 to 54.0 million tonnes, delivering a 12% share in the global TS production. Capital expenditure in the plastics and rubber products production sector has been growing at a rate similar to that of the entire industrial processing industry for over 10 years. In 2023, expenditure on them amounted to PLN 7.36 billion, which is more than twice as high as in 2013 (PLN 3.28 billion) - according to the Report.

The European plastics industry, which includes producers of plastics in primary forms, converters and recyclers, and manufacturers of processing machines and equipment, currently comprises nearly 52 thousand companies and entities. Most of these are small and medium-sized enterprises employing over 1.5 million people and generating a turnover exceeding EUR 365 billion.
