Reaching the finish line

21 april 2013
A record breaking number of the seventh Integration Run contestants

The fencing presentations staged Krzysztof Słoń was found particularly exciting

As many as 270 disabled contestants took part in the Integration Run organised by the Sports and Rehabilitation Association START. The tournament has become a part of the Fair of Rehabilitation, Therapy & Care REHMED-PLUS tradition. The expo is held in Targi Kielce centre. The event convention holds it that Krzysztof Głombowicz is the event leader. The seventeen-year-old Grzegorz Bórzyński of the Special Purpose School and Education Centre in Kielce was the first to cover the run’s distance and has thus won for the second time in a roll.

Following the previous years’ example the participants were to cover the 600 metre distance along a new street in the neighbourhood of Targi Kielce, either on their own or assisted by their care-takers. The contestants are the disabled sports people who, against all odds, actively take part in competitions and Olympics.

All the contestants were presented with gold medals and souvenirs founded by the sponsors, i.e.: OSM Włoszczowa, Cersanit, Echo Dnia, Targi Kielce and Jedność Publishing House. It has been the seventh time the sponsors have given us the chance to see the smile upon the participants’ faces. This is in line with the run’s motto; the competition is held under the “No losers” banner.

In addition to the run, the event’s programme also encompassed the fencing presentations staged by Paralympics athletes. The Senator Krzysztof Słoń was also brought round to take part in it. The senator, sitting on a wheel-chair and cal in the full fencing gear, duelled his victory.

Congratulations to all the contestants!
