The police people from 9 countries of Central and Eastern Europe have come to Targi Kielce to hold the debate devoted to EURO 2012

This meeting is especially important in the context of the upcoming EURO 2012 tournament. This is the first meeting of this kind held in Targi Kielce attended by the police representatives from Poland, Germany, Austria, Great Britain, Lithuania, SwedenHungary, Ukraine and Latvia.

- Meetings, like the one held today which accompanies the ALARM trade fair, are the most effective way of the police forces preparation in order for them to be able to face up to all kinds situations and threats associated with large scale sports events – said col. Wolfgang Gabrutsch, the head of the police department in Koernten in Austria when delivering his presentation – Before the tournament starts there is the necessity to look into the problem of excellent cooperation between all the services, i.e. the police, fire services, rescue services and public order services as well as the local authorities and others. However it takes time. In Germany and Austria it had taken us two year before the EURO 2008 started. Poles are on the right track though – added the colonel.

The subject matter of the “Safe City” – Safety at Sport Facilities and in Public Places workshop mainly focuses on ensuring safety at the European football championship in Germany and all the associated problems regarding foreign football fans and public order restoration. The audience will also be presented with the experiences of Vienna police when safeguarding high-risk football matches as well as with the experience regarding safety of EURO 1996 as well as at other international matches held at the Wembley and Hampden stadiums and other main stadiums of London.
