Solaris electric and hydrogen buses present throughout Europe
High-class electric and hydrogen buses account for over 15% of the European market share, with Milan boasting the largest fleet of such vehicles - as many as 195 cars. Warsaw with 152 buses and Berlin with 133 vehicles also have an impressive number in their fleet. This year and the following year, a record number of electric buses ordered at one time will hit the streets of Oslo. One of such Solaris Urbino 18.75 electric models can be seen at the Solaris expo stand until the end of TRANSEXPO. Electrically powered Solaris buses operate in 118 cities in 20 countries around the world.
- Hydrogen buses are the future of public transport. At the moment, there are 60 such vehicles, and the share of alternative drives already accounts for over 40% of public transport vehicles leaving the factory. - said Dariusz Michalak from the Solaris Bus&Coach management board during the conference in Targi Kielce. The guests present at the conference were also eager to look inside another vehicle from the Solaris brand i.e. Urbino 12 electric.
In recent years, Solaris boasts the sales of approximately 1,500 buses of all types per year. In September this year, the newest articulated hydrogen bus, the Solaris Urbino 18 hydrogen, officially premiered; the vehicle, which can accommodate 140 passengers, offers a 240 kW engine, and batteries with the range of about 350 km.
Jakub Jóźwiak, director of the after-sales department, who was present at the conference, emphasised the role of customer service at Solaris not only before the purchase, but also after it. - Our employees take care of contact with customers and often exchange information for improving the products offered many months after the purchase. This is a significant point in the company's business strategy.
During the conference, information was also made about the Central Warehouse, the area of which doubled in 2021 with about 570,000 SKU available. Over 170,000 orders were made last year alone. The preparations are underway to open the Solaris Competence Centre, which will be a training place for customers, service technicians and drivers, as well as a space for learning.
