Sustainable approaches towards green transition in polymeric materials, i.e. an essential conference on sustainable approaches to the transformation of polymeric materials
90 people from 38 organizations met at Targi Kielce to exchange experiences and knowledge in processing composite materials. The two-day conference and networking workshops are organised as part of the GREEN-COMP project financed by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway under the EEA Funds / Norwegian Funds.
Doctor Hab. Engineer Sandra Paszkiewicz, professor at the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin spoke about what a few years ago was recognized as one of the most promising materials - a monomer for the synthesis of other materials.
– I wanted to share our research results with you; we have been working for a few years. We tried to obtain very interesting, in our opinion, polymer based on raw materials of plant origin. […] Shrinking oil resources coupled with increasing greenhouse gas emissions mean that interest in new polymer technologies keeps growing – said Doctor Hab. Engineer Sandra Paszkiewicz – Starch is the input-material for hydroxymethylfurfural, from which the compound we are most interested in, i.e. furanedicarboxylic acid, is obtained.
Lectures were also delivered by Dr. Hab. engineer Maria Kurańska, professor at the Krakow Tadeusz Kościuszko University of Technology’s Doctor Hab. Engineer Elżbieta Piesowicz, professor at the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin, Katarzyna Pokwicka - Croucher, founder and CEO of Ecopolplast and Doctor Hab. Kamila Sałasińska from the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology.
The conference continues until 23 May 2024. Details: https://conference.green-composites.tech/
