The artist who created sounds the whole world truly loves
The Per Artem Ad Deum medal has been awarded by the Pontifical Council for Culture, the body which was founded in 1982 upon the initiative of Pope John Paul II. The distinction has been presented since 2005 - the ceremony has been held at the International Exhibition of Church Construction, Church Fittings and Furnishings and Religious Art SACROEXPO The medal is bestowed to those who contribute to the to promotion of dialogue between the diversity of cultures in the contemporary world and thus promote man as an individual.
Until now, the Per Artem Ad Deum Medal Chapter chaired by Rev. Bishop Marian Florczyk has bestowed 21 distinctions. The medal fellowship includes the outstanding personages, and among them Wojciech Kilar - the composer, stage designer and theatre director Leszek Mądzik, director Krzysztof Zanussi and other composers: Krzysztof Penderecki and Arvo Pärt.
In September 2012, Ennio Morricone was also presented the Per Artem ad Deum medal for his the inventive genius to create the intimacy marked with lyricisms and simplicity; for producing sounds all the world loves" . Two thousand people saw the unusual event in the Targi Kielce expo hall. Ennio Morricone - the world-famous Italian composer, a creator of the brilliant film music, the author of classical music, including 'Cantata Frammenti di Eros' and 'Cantata per l'Europa' compositions. He created genuine music score for over 500 films. The six decades of his career saw the sales of about 70 million records. Morricone was awarded many times, the accolades list includes 2017 Oscar for life-long achievements and the Gold Medal of the Pontificate of Pope Francis.
- I had the pleasure to meet Ennio Morricone in person - he was a great artist and a modest person at the same time . I participated in all rehearsals before his concert staged in one of our expo halls. I am glad that the artist's work has been recognized by the Per Artem ad Deum medal chapter, the distinction presented at Targi Kielce. Ennio Morricone was a true legend - his death is a great loss for the whole world of film music - says Andrzej Mochoń, President of the Management Board of Targi Kielce.
