Nowe zasady segregacji odpadów budowlanych i rozbiórkowych wchodzą w życie od 1 stycznia 2025 roku.

The beginning of the new year marks further changes in waste segregation. Construction and demolition waste within the change scope

25 july 2024
The new regulations come into force on 1 January 2025 - a step towards more ecological waste management. Developers and renovation companies must be ready for the introduction of appropriate changes to their waste management processes. These alterations will contribute to achieving higher standards of environmental protection and better management of natural resources

According to the new rules, construction and demolition waste will have to be collected and segregated into six specific fractions:

  • wood,
  • metals,
  • glass
  • plastics,
  • gypsum,
  • mineral waste, ceramic materials and masonry materials.

Construction and renovation companies will have two ways to choose one of the two options to fulfill these obligations. Comapnies can segregate waste themselves or outsource this task to specialised external companies. In practice, this means that appropriate containers or containers will have to be provided at construction sites and for renovation works, enabling separate collection of individual types of waste. The new regulations entail additional obligations and costs for developers and renovation companies,  nonetheless, these changes objective is to increase the level of recycling and reduce the amount of waste landfilled. The new regulations’ fulfillment has a direct impact on environmental protection.

It is worth noting that the new regulations will not apply to private individuals;  people renovate in DYI mode will still be obliged to order construction waste containers from the relevant municipal authorities or private waste collection companies. It is important to remember that throwing construction waste into regular municipal waste containers is prohibited and may result in imposing a fine.

The introduction of new rules for construction and demolition waste segregation aims to improve the efficiency of recycling processes and reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills. In the long term, these changes may contribute to sustainable development and improve residents’ quality of life.

All issues related to the new waste segregation rules will be discussed in detail at the upcoming Ekotech  - 8 to 10 April 2025 at Targi Kielce. This event offers an excellent opportunity to discuss the latest legal regulations, exchange experiences and present innovative solutions in the field of waste management.
