The equestrian industry in Poland - tradition and modernity

03 december 2024
Horse riding in Poland has attracted outdoor sports enthusiasts for years, combining tradition with a modern approach to recreation and sport. With the rich history of Polish cavalry, the equestrian industry continues to develop in modern centres. According to the Polish Equestrian Federation data, there are now around 653 equestrian clubs in Poland, proving this discipline's growing popularity

Horse riding enthusiasts in Poland are a diverse group, including children, youth and adults;  with an estimated 300,000 people who ride horses regularly, of which over 11,000 are registered riders. The youngest find horse riding a fascinating adventure, and for parents, it is an educational tool that teaches responsibility, empathy, and cooperation with others. Adults choose horse riding as a form of relaxation and escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, seeking a balance between work and rest.

The equestrian industry’s potential

Poland is one of the most important players in Arabian horse breeding worldwide, and our stud farms, such as Michałów, enjoy international recognition. Many equestrian clubs in the country offer various forms of instruction and activities – from recreational riding to preparation for show jumping and dressage competitions. In recent years, the number of new equestrian centres has kept growing dynamically, indicating this discipline's development.

Why is equestrianism gaining popularity?

The growing popularity of equestrianism stems from several key factors. First of all, this sport offers not only physical development but also emotional and mental development. Contact with horses has a therapeutic effect, teaching patience and self-control. The growing wealth of society and the increasing availability of equestrian centres mean that horse riding is no longer an elite activity and is becoming accessible to a wide audience.

Horse riding and the future

The equestrian industry in Poland has enormous development potential  as the growing interest in horse sports also drives the development of innovative services and solutions in the industry. Hippikon and similar events, which attract exhibitors and participants from all over the world, are excellent platforms for promoting this field. Owing to the dynamic growth in popularity and involvement in the development of sport, equestrianism is becoming one of the key elements of sports and recreational life in Poland.
