Ladies and Gentlemen.

I want to send my whole-hearted greetings to the organisers, exhibitors and all the participants of the 19th International Defence Industry Exhibition MSPO - the largest defence industry sector exhibition in this part of Europe.

The soldier of today is a professional. And as every other professional, the soldier needs the professional, effective, highly technologically advanced armament. The state-of-the art military equipment alongside with optimal training is the guarantee of gaining the battle-field advantage.

Thus a fast and efficient modernisation is one of the cornerstones in the process of the armed forces professionalisation. Ten years ago when the Act of the 25th May 2001 on The Republic of Poland Armed Forces Transformation, Technical Modernisation and Financial Provision was passed, the stable financial condition of the Polish army modernisation was created. I was equipped, being at that time in the office of the Minister of National Defence, with the effective tool used for the modernisation process intensification. And this process has lasted until now.

A very important role in the process of the RP Armed Forces modernisation belongs to the domestic defence industry sector. The companies form this sector constitute an indispensable element of the national security system. But for them, the Armed Forces would be unable to fulfil the national security tasks, as they secure the supplies of armament and military equipment to be used in the case of danger or the event of war. The role of these companies was specified, inter alia, in the National Security Strategy. Thus the elites which are in power in Poland are obliged to support, develop and promote the products and services provided by this industry sector.

Poland is a member state of the European Union and NATO; with regards to these conditions Polish producers must be efficient and effective to adjust their offer and to make it competitive on European and international markets.

The International Defence Industry Exhibition is an excellent place to promote the latest technological developments in the defence industry sector; and this also applies to the results of many-year work of Polish engineers. Companies, firms and institutes whose exhibition stands can be visited this year, have been able to prevail the period of global economic and financial crisis we have observed since 2008. These bodies continue their work in the field of military research as well as provide the modern armaments and equipment for their clients, mainly the Republic of Poland Armed Forces.

I wish all the participants of the International Defence Industry Exhibition gain many interesting impressions when visiting the exhibition stands. I also congratulate the organisers for yet another success.
