The metering system revolution. Act signed by President. Do the changes affect the Enex exhibitors?
-The act's entry into force will initiate a change in the national model - the centralised energy market and all our current thinking about the energy sector." emphasises Michał Kurtyka, Minister of Climate and Environment.
Remote meter reading and energy storage
The amendment to the Act of 20 May 2021 amending the Energy Law and certain other acts, known as the "meter act", is first and foremost the utilisation of the functions of smart remote reading meters. The changes also concern the elimination of the existing barriers to the development of energy storage, and this has a significant impact on the integration of renewable energy sources and the stabilisation of changes taking place in the power system.
Investments in meters - fuels for the economy
- The installation of smart electricity metering in Poland involves contracts worth a total of over PLN 7 billion - says the head of the Ministry of Climate and Environment.
The Ministry of Climate and Environment takes into account the demands of Polish meter manufacturers, inviting them to participate in the proceedings task forces and working groups. They are also advised to join in consultations on draft legal acts that may affect the operation of devices.
- We declare our support for all initiatives promoting solutions that have already been proven on the market and those which are of benefit to the Polish economy. It should be noted that it is up to the DSO to choose the supplier of metering devices - emphasises Minister Kurtyka.
The meter act signed by President Duda provides a detailed schedule - by the end of 2028 remote reading of energy consumption (VOC) will be installed by at least 80% of end-users, including at least 80% of households.
