The Technical Association of Polish Foundrymen (STOP) opens its new chapter: Professor Rafał Dańko elected STOP president

The gala 35th General Assembly of Delegates of the Technical Association of Polish Foundrymen (STOP) in Krakow elected its new President. On 14 December, this important role was taken over by Doctor Hab. Engineer Rafał Dańko, associate Professor at AGH University of Technology, former Vice-President of STOP and Vice-Rector of AGH for students affairs

The new President replaces Mr. Tadeusz Franaszek, who had held this position in 2011-2023 period. During the assembly session, the STOP Secretary General, Katarzyna Liszka, presented a detailed report on the Association's activities, emphasising the achievements and challenges the organisation has faced in the past period.

The election of Professor Rafał Dańko for the leading STOP position is certainly a step towards further growth and the Association’s new achievements. 

Professor Rafał Dańko is a respected scientist and expert in metallurgy, associated with the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków. In the years 2016-2020, Professor Dańko served as the dean of the Faculty of Foundry, and in 2020 he was appointed the vice-rector of AGH University of Science and Technology for students affairs. The same year, he was honoured with the title of Professor of Technical Sciences. Professor Rafał Dańko has actively participant in domestic and foreign scientific conferences, where he has presented extensive research results. Professor's scientific achievements include over 320 publications, monographs and co-authored works. Professor Dańko  has been a manager and active researcher in scientific projects, both science and industry targeted. Professor Dańko  has implemented a number of innovations, gaining recognition in the scientific community. In addition, Professor Dańko acted as a supervisor in many doctoral, master's and bachelor's disserations, supporting the development of young scientists.

Professor Rafał Dańko is also an active participant in of many scientific organisations, both on the domestic and international arena. Professor Dańko’s contribution to the development of the foundry was recognised with numerous awards, including the Gold Badge of Honor of the Technical Association of Polish Foundrymen (STOP) and the Silver Badge of Honor of the Supreme Technical Organization. He has also received a number of awards from the Rector of AGH for his outstanding scientific achievements. The numerous achievements also include Professor’s services as the President of the ODLEWNICTWO Foundation in 2015-2016.

Congratulations to Professor Rafał Dańko on taking up the honourable position of the Technical Association of Polish Foundrymen President. We wish you a fruitful term of office, which abounds with inspiration and success in further endeavours for Polish science and the foundry industry. We believe that our cooperation within the scope of the METAL International Fair of Technologies for Foundry will see continuation and further enhancement.
