UAV measurements, scanning systems and the legal issue for UAV in the economy were discussed at the Targi Kielce’s IDE
Łukasz Kacprzak from the Polish Investment and Geodetic Consortium says that drones are useful at every stage of the investment project and design.
- It is obvious to use the technique at the design and orthophotomap stage - however, the data collected by UAV are also helpful later. One of the most interesting examples is the use of photos obtained in this way for social consultations; residents of an area can see what the final effect will look like and how the works will be carried out on an ongoing basis. Visualization comes in aid.
The possibility for the designer or a surveyor to check whether the works are proceeding according to plan is yet another aspect. This is comfortable, because after the construction start, the site is closed, and thus control is much more difficult. An example offered during the lecture related to the Central Transport Hub.
IDE discussions featured the use of drones for laser scanning, the technology particularly useful when creating complex projects such as power engineering infrastructure. A detailed three-dimensional map may be created for previously inaccessible places, e.g. in heavily forested areas. This technology keeps developing and now scanning systems can be used, for example, making detailed maps of interiors.
The legal aspect and problems posed of UAV technology were presented by Aneta Aguś from the Centre for Science and Technology of Unmanned Systems. The industry primarily finds airspace zones and liability for damage the biggest legal problem. The size and file formats for data transfer one of the most interesting and overlooked problems faced by companies using drones. The default PDF format, owing to its archaic algorithm, creates large - many customers have problems opening on office equipment. The solution is on-line files access.
