Vegetable and fruit producers await for this information. The expo starts on Wednesday
The Fruit and Vegetable Farming Expo has been organised since 2013 by Warsaw's Oikos Publishing House. The event has been known and recognised as one of Europe’s most important industry events of this kind. The upcoming expo is held in Targi Kielce. The two days’ event held on 18 and 19 January hosts over 300 exhibitors, including 50 foreign companies. They present tractors, harvesters, machines, devices and equipment, fertilizers, protection products, biostimulants for farms specializing in fruit and vegetable production. Visitors will be able to take part in five conferences which will discuss burning topics related to particular production areas. The conferences are free to attend.
Orchard Conference on Wednesday, 18 January discusses e.g. issues of production costs and orchard management systems. – The apple harvest for 2022, according to the estimates of the Central Statistical Office, amounted to about 4.2 million tons. 1.5 million tons must be exported, and in the face of the effects of the war in the East, it is impossible. We will look for alternatives to products and solutions that will manage the surplus in the country - says Mirosław Maliszewski, president of the Association of Polish Fruit Growers, who will speak during the debate.
The Blueberry Conference will focus on currants and raspberries. Specialists from Poland and abroad will present ideas for fruit management, complemented with ideas for sale abroad, processing for different purposes including wine.
Another conference - vegetable session is held on Thursday, 19 January and discussed the impact of the European market on the situation of producers in Poland. The problem of fertilization and nutrition of vegetables is in the limelight; the speakers will consider how to grow crops under cover in the face of rising production costs. Witold Boguta is one of the specialists who will present the best practices in integrated and sustainable production - Boguta is a president of the National Association of Fruit and Vegetable Producers' Groups.
Strawberry Conference is also held on Thursday and addresses the problems of fertilization in changing conditions and the issues of soilless cultivation.
Then the Organic and sustainable gardening Conference focuses on topics related to the European Green Deal. The new Common Agricultural Policy and eco-schemes, which are to support the development of sustainable agriculture, will be discussed by Jerzy Plewa, PhD of the Team Europe, a head of the Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Areas in the European Commission in 2013-2020. The National Strategic Plan for 2023-2027 will be discussed by Mirosław Maliszewski, a Member of Parliament and President of the Association of Fruit Growers of the Republic of Poland. The discussion will be led by a well-known TV journalist who is an expert on agriculture, Maria Sikorska.
