WB Group and Leonardo sign a letter of intent on cooperation in the defence sector
As part of the cooperation, WB GROUP and Leonardo intend to develop advanced development projects and seek business opportunities in Poland and international markets for light and medium tactical unmanned reconnaissance and strike systems.
The letter of intent allows the entities to undertake joint initiatives in industrial cooperation based on more autonomous air platforms, systems integrated with artificial intelligence, and other advanced solutions that meet the needs of the modern, constantly changing battlefield.
The cooperation is to be based on the knowledge, competences, and experience of the WB GROUP and Leonardo in the development of specialist military electronics, reconnaissance, and strike systems capable of operating in an integrated combat environment, which allows for multi-domain operations. Joint initiatives are to be based on the established presence of partner entities in Poland, within the framework of the WB GROUP’s activities and support from Leonardo Poland.
- Defence and security requirements keep evolving, and the first condition for strengthening European competencies and capabilities in this area is the innovative industry. Our portfolio keeps constantly evolving, driven by breakthrough inventions and the rapid introduction of advanced defence and security solutions, aligned with our strategy, and unmanned systems and technologies are an integral part of this, said Lorenzo Mariani, Co-CEO of Leonardo.
- We believe that through synergy we can create technically and cost-effective solutions with new capabilities to meet the needs of an integrated, multi-domain battlespace, providing increased situational awareness and operational effectiveness. This cooperation also confirms our commitment to Poland in terms of defence and security capabilities and industrial development, added Lorenzo Mariani, Leonardo.
- The agreement makes it possible for WB GROUP and Leonardo to conduct an analysis of how both entities can combine their complementary capabilities and experience in the areas of unmanned systems and artificial intelligence. The objective is to develop advanced and effective light and medium tactical reconnaissance platforms and low-cost strike solutions - said Piotr Wojciechowski, president of WB GROUP.
- The new systems can be used for a wide range of applications in environments with a strong impact of electronic warfare means, in areas with a disrupted or falsified GPS signal, in accordance with operational needs - added the president of WB GROUP.
