Welcome to Slovakia

16 april 2012
Visit the partner country of the AGROTRAVEL 2012

Slovakia is the 2012 national partner of the AGROTRAVEL trade fair

Slovakia – very well known for Poles owing to its thermal swimming pools or outstanding ski reords and centres. This is also the birth place of the legendary Janosik in addition to being the country of historic castles; but first and foremost it is the country of truly hospitable owners of a whole array of hotels, private guests houses and agro-tourism farms.

This is also the country of magnificent caves; one of such examples is the Dobšinská Ice Cave registered in the world heritage list of UNESCO. The cave is 1400 metres long with the ice volume estimated at 110 thousand cubic metres. This is also the Demänovská Ice Cave located in the Low Tatras National Park which stretches for over 1700 metres – this is the breathtaking scenery of ice stalactites, stalagmites and columns. And last but not least the Domica Cave located at the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and National Park; the cave of 5300 metres long offers the landscape route of more than 1000 metres; 140 metres of the route is covered in boats. There is also the Jasovská Cave located within the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and National Park – this cave is 2800 metres long with 550 metes available for tourists; this cave is rich with dripstone layout, pagoda-like stalagmites, its waterfalls, shields and drums or even columns.

Slovakia also offers wonderful national parks such as the Slovak Paradise, the Lesser Fatra or the Vratna Valley located within the Lesser Fatra.

Each and everyone of us will fond something of their interest in Slovakia, both in summer and in winter. Poles show very special appreciation for Slovakia’s impressive tourist infrastructure concentrated around thermal pools and ski lifts as well as for the variety of hotel facilities, delicious cuisine, good beer and savoury cheeses. Since it is easy for Polish speakers to communicate Poles find their visits to Slovakia as meetings with friends; they have known and visited each other for years. This is an ideal place for a longer holiday as well as for a short trip with your family and friends.

When we say Slovakia we trigger the associations with its national parks, caves, ski centres and resorts and thermal swimming pools. But Slovakia also offers really attractive cities including its capital city of Bratislava; located in a picturesque setting of the Danube it is an open invitation to take long strolls and admire the enchanting old town. Poles are also very well familiar with the elegant city of Kosice and its beautiful theatre building; in 2013 Kosice and the France’s Marseille will be the European Capital of Culture. And there are many charming places like Trnawa, Trenczym, Nitra, Zilina, Basska Bystrica and Preszow.

Much more information about the country which is Poland’s neighbour in the south is available during the three days’ trade fair of AGROTRAVEL, from 20 to 22 April.
